Frequently Asked Question

What is a Secure Element and does each Taxpayer has to have it?
Last Updated 2 years ago

Secure Element is a hardware or software element that the Tax Authority issues to the taxpayer.  A taxpayer is obliged to use the Secure Element for providing:

  • Digital signature for fiscal invoices
  • Identity confirmation during data and information exchange with the Tax Authority.

An invoice issued without the use of the Secure Element cannot be treated as a fiscal invoice.

Secure Element contains an electronic certificate that serves to reproduce a digital signature of the Taxpayer during the issuance of each fiscal invoice, and to reproduce the encrypted password of the Taxpayer during the communication session with the Tax Authority.

The Secure Element is personalized for the taxpayer, for a specific business premise. Taxpayer cannot use the same Secure Element in different business premises.
